Located on the Gold Coast of Costa Rica, in the Guanacaste Peninsula, Playa Avellanas is a sleepy surf town with a beautiful shoreline. Many tourists come to visit the famous Lola's restaurant, notorious for their mascot; a 500 pound pig named "Lola." Playa Avellanas is also home to the surf break "Little Hawaii." Known to have up to 20 foot waves, surfers gather here to show off their skills. Though Playa Avellanas does attract tourists, it never seems to be overly packed. Anyone can visit and enjoy a relaxing day at the beach.
